Today on the Once-a-Penguin we are checking out Goalie turned Insurance Broker Rob Dopson.

Pre Penguins Career:
Dopson played two years of junior with the OHL's Kitchener Rangers before spending four years at Wilfrid Laurier University in Kitchener.
After having a stellar rookie pro season in 1990-91 with the IHL's Muskegon Lumberjacks and the Louisville IceHawks of the ECHL. Dopson signed as a free agent with the Penguins a month into the 1990-1991 Season.
Rob would spend the majority of his time in the Pens organization Split between Muskegon and Cleveland LumberJacks.
Rob Dopson would appear in two games for the Penguins during the 1993-1994 season making his NHL debut against the New Jersey Devils.
He played a total of 45 Min's 25 seconds. Allowing 3 goals and making 23 saves finishing with a GAA of 3.96 and a save percentage of .870.
Post Penguins Career:
After his time with the Penguins, Rob put together a decent minor league career, which lead him all over the Globe. Including stops in Canada, USA, Europe, and Japan.
After retiring in after the 2003-2004 season, he entered the Insurance game, forming the insurance group Hunter and Dopson. Here is a Link to http://huntanddopson.com/
Rob is also currently serving as Goaltender coach for his hometown Smiths Falls Bears.
Although we only got a glimpse of Rob Dopson in the Penguins black and yellow, he was and always will be a Penguin to me.
